ARTIST'S STATEMENT
My practice is shaped by four foundational experiences: growing up in the rural Midwest, serving as a combat veteran, learning the discipline of a skilled tradesman, and being immersed in the visual arts from an early age. These perspectives inform both my subject matter and my approach to painting.
I focus on creating fresh interpretations of the landscapes that define my surroundings. Working primarily in oil with a palette knife, and occasionally in acrylic, I aim to balance improvisation with structure—organizing chaos into form and light.
For me, painting is both a discipline and a refuge. Each work is an opportunity to test the limits of my ability, to find peace in the act of creation, and to communicate something that exists beyond words.
